! John was hit in the leg while cutting wood by an axe. He evidently had sugar diabetes at this time. The wound wouldn't heal and he ended up having both his legs amputated. In later years his care was taken up by his sister Maggie. In 1910 he was living with Samuel and Maggie (his sister) Foudray, according to the 1910 census. The census lists him as being 25 years old which I do not believe, this would have made him born in 1885 instead of 1881.
