! I Now believe he died in 1824, but this was shortly after coming to Ill.
! Jacob and Polly had several daughters, of which I haven't found their names as of yet. (1994 SDW)
! I have this court record of an apprenticeship of John Williams for 9 years from 16 Oct next. He is to be taught the art and trade of a house joiner and carpenter, by Jacob Helphenstine of Fleming Co., Ky. Dtd 1 July 1816.
! Lawrence County history says John Helvinstein settled in the Pinkstaff neighborhood, about 1825. He came from Kentucky with a family of two sons, Washington and Andrew, and several daughters. (I believe they are talking about Jacob, son of John Philip Jacob.)
! The Crawford County history list Jacob as a Surveyor in 1823. It also list him as one of the first settlers to the county. Possibly he started out in Crawford Co., moving to Lawrence Co., which is adjacent to Crawford Co., a little later. Of course county lines were changing back then, also.
! Bertha Martinez relates to me there probably were other children before John Andrew, because Jacob was married in 1812, which leaves ample time for other children.
! Illinois history has listed the spelling of Helphenstine as Helphingstine/Helpinstein/Helphenstine/Helphinstine etc.
! In 1820 I found Jacob listed as a resident of Crawford County Illinois - with 3 sons in his household, and a wife.
