- Limited information is available online unless you
subscribe to the service. But there's a free trial
period...

Book publisher listings
- Courtesy the SFWA site, a publisher listing that actually slaps
a "not recommended" tag on some listings (yay). From the main
pages are more fun stuff, such as agent lists, a warnings page,
and advice pages. This site is targeted at writers, of course, but
it's possibly also useful for everyone else.

- Search engine for publisher site links. You can also use the
browse pages and just look over the lists.

Brenner Books
- Small publisher's commericial site dedicated to selling
a book, but it has some freelance service/rate tables on it
that are interesting.

CCH Business Owner's Toolkit
- Commercial site with articles about setting up a small
business, including starting, financing, business plans,
and taxes.

eFAX
- Free numbers for receiving faxes in the U.S., U.K.,
or other countries. Faxes to your number are converted
into an email attachment and sent to you. You read the
fax using proprietary software downloaded off the site.

MSA Central
- Information on medical savings plans (US-only
health insurance option for the self-employed).

U.S. Internal Revenue Service
- Tax forms and booklets. Another resource here is
for freelancers is the test for independent contractors
versus employees.

- Dan, of course, is a moderator person. He has a placed the
following useful articles on his site: A Basic FTP Tutorial,
Anti-Virus Software, Freelancers' Rates, The Editor's Library,
and Computer Maintenance: A Low-tech Guide. Check them out.

Artists’ Health Insurance Resource Center
- Sponsored by the Actors' Fund of America and
the NEA, "artists" here is defined to include

as well. State-based suggestions for finding
