FAQ for Freelance/eGroups Subscribers

Switching between digest and individual posts

Postponing list mail

Postponing stops your email from the list. Because Freelance is a restricted list that requires each subscription request to be approved, you should postpone rather than unsubscribe when you go on vacation or need to take a break.

Important: When you're on postpone, you are still subscribed to the list. This means you can still send email to the mailing list, and you can still read all the digests, including the most recent one, on the eGroups website.

Here's how to stop your list mail:

Method 1

  1. Go to http://www.egroups.com. [Screenshot: Main eGroups screen, red arrows show options for logging in.]
  2. When the My Groups screen appears, on the right side of the Freelance list are the Delivery Options. Click on the drop-arrow to see the mode list. [Screenshot: The My Groups screen with the Delivery Modes drop menu. Notice that No Mail / Web Only is one of the options.]
  3. Select No Mail / Web Only from the options.
  4. Click on the Save Changes button.

Method 2

  1. Go to http://www.egroups.com. [Screenshot: Main eGroups screen, red arrows show options for logging in.]
  2. When the My Groups screen appears, click on the group Freelance on the list. [Screenshot: The My Groups screen. Freelance is the first group listed here.]
  3. When the screen for Freelance appears, click on Modify on the right side of the screen. [Screenshot: The Freelance screen. Modify is selected on the right side.]
  4. When the Membership Options screen appears, select this option:
    • Don't send me email, I'll read the messages at the Web site.
[Screenshot: The Membership Options screen. "No Mail" is the third option.]
  5. Click on the Save Changes button.

When you want to resume your list mail, follow this same procedure and select either email messages or digest.

Note 1: A list owner can change this option for you if necessary.

Note 2: When you click on the list name Freelance, you go to the list's own options. Notice that a sidebar of list options appears.
