Microsoft NT 4.0 Setup Instructions
Making the connection
1. Double click my computer.
2. Double click dial up networking.
3. Select new.
4. In phonebook entry, enter Comteck. Click next.
5. Select Second choice, send my plain text password if that's the only way to connect. Click
Next.
6. Enter your local Access #

7. Click finish.
8. Double-click dial up networking
9. Select Comteck. click More/Edit
10. Click Server tab,
Dial-up server type: PPP; windows NT, windows 95 Plus, Internet
Network Protocols check on TCP/IP
BOTH Enable software compression and Enable PPP LCP extensions checked
11. Click TCP/IP settings button
Select Server Assigned IP Address
Select Specify Name Server Addresses
Primary DNS 209.45.185.5
Secondary DNS leave 0.0.0.0
Primary WINS leave 0.0.0.0
Secondary WINS leave 0.0.0.0
Check BOTH Use IP Header Compression AND Use Default Gateway on Remote Network.
12. Click OK.
13. Click Script tab, Ensure that NONE is selected.
14. Click Security tab, Ensure that Accept any authentication including clear text. is selected.
15. Click OK.
Configuring Network
1. Click Start-Settings-Control Panel.
2. Double-click Network.
3. Click Services Tab. Verify Remote Access Service.
If NOT present, Click Add, select Remote Access Service
Click OK.
4. Click Protocol Tab, Verify TCP/IP Protocol
If NOT present, Click ADD, select TCP/IP
Click OK.
5. Click Bindings Tab.
In white box at bottom, find Remote Access Service, Click (+) and change to (-)
Verify TCP/IP listed under Remote Access Service.
Click OK.
6. Close Contol Panel.
Making the Connection.
1. Double-click My Computer.
2. Double-click Dialup Networking.
3. Select Comteck. Click Dial.
4. USERNAME youruserid (all lowercase)
PASSWORD yourpass (all lowercase)
DOMAIN LEAVE BLANK
Check mark in Save Password.
5. Click OK.
